Mahima Bhatia Photography is a known name in the wedding photography industry. Her emotive style powerfully captures those un-posed, un-rehearsed heartwarming moments that make up a wedding.
So when Mahima decided for us to plan & design her wedding through our lens, we were over the moon. And today… as I look back on this crazy, fun-packed wedding, how I wish we were doing it all over again!
About a month before the wedding, Mahina, Harsh, Shikha and I went on a road trip to the couple’s chosen venue: Golden Tulip, Chandigarh. I can’t think of a single boring moment from those 6 hours on the road.
The couple treated us to stories from their 10-year long relationship – both the good ones and the not-so-good ones, peppered with a generous dose of candour & humour.
I remember thinking to myself – if there’s one couple who’s mastered the art of togetherness – it’s them. They’ve stuck together through the good times and bad, finding their own kind of perfect in this rather imperfect world. And that to me, is #relationshipgoals.
Now for their wedding, the duo had a very clear vision – they wanted everyone, and especially their own families to have a gala time! To be exact: 48 hours packed with fun, madness & absolute #Bhakla-ness. And quite frankly, that’s just how their wedding panned out!
This being the first wedding of #shaadiseason2018 – the team was all geared up!
One minor glitch: the 5 am wake-up call.
Fun fact: none of us is a morning person.
Luckily, Nik Baker’s came to the rescue and turned our moods around!
We reached the venue sometime in the afternoon and got straight into planning mode! The team split three ways: some of us at the concierge managing the guests, some tracking the back-end work & some on-ground – all ensuring that everything is executed to a T!
The first event on the agenda was the joint Haldi celebrations of the couple! In terms of decor, we kept it bright and easy with a fuschia and mustard colour palette and parrot motifs.
In no time, the party moved from the poolside to the pool – and I think this picture sums up Mahima + Harsh like no other.
After the Haldi came the ‘Cocktail Sundowner!’ This one-hell-of-a-night was tailored to our couple’s fun, outgoing personalities.
With personalized tipples like Khooni Chudail and Moheeto Madam on the menu, a Bollywood-style archway entrance, an abundance of pompoms and tassels – every corner was buzzing with excitement and energy! As planners, it’s super important for us to keep the vibe fun yet very authentic and personal.
PS. After all that non-stop dancing, our bride decided to have a midnight chooda ceremony. Certainly one of the most non-mushy, laughter-filled chooda ceremonies we’ve seen so far!
Day 2 of the #Bhaklas surpassed all our collective expectations – the rain gods were kind, our design vision beautifully translated into reality, and despite that little bit of a hiccup with the groom’s pagadi (successfully averted), it’s safe to say everything went AS PLANNED!
The Anand Karaj at the gurudwara was followed by a ‘Vintage Wedding Lunch.’ We layered shades of pink, vintage prints and floral installations to recreate that dreamy old-world charm. Some key elements that particularly stood out were the hanging floral chandelier, the ‘M&H’ barrel and the cute cycle right next to it. Oh and what could be more vintage than the groom making an entrance on a Royal Enfield!
We had the best time planning and designing Mahima & Harsh’s wedding. Everything from the meetings, the fun stationery design to vendor sourcing and on-ground management was phenomenal. Not to mention, the absolute blast that we had with all the industry members at the wedding! #Bhaklas will always be a special ‘festival of memories’ for Baraati Inc.!
